Pipa Reconstruction - The Broken Parts

Headstock. Contains half of the broken tenon.

Headstock after removal of the broken tenon piece (center) and the nut (right).

The broken tenon. The wood is pink and has the feel of mahogany. The hole accomodates the lowermost tuning peg when the headstock is attached.

Tuning pegs.

The bridge.

The existing frets. I was able to remove these by gently heating with a hair dryer.

A crack in the backboard.

Hi Wayne,

Great site. I have just aquired an old Pipa. Never used. Came from a closed instrument dealer. It's not a good model but worth the effort.

I need to replace ta tuning peg, any suggestions on a supplier?
